Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), also known as micro needling or skin needling, is a non-light based rejuvenation treatment that initiates the body's immune response to repair and remodel damaged or ageing tissue. Skin needling is a clinic only treatment that uses a pen device with micro needles that oscillate up to 10,000 times per minute! The body will close these micro treatment zones in a matter of hours and the production of collagen will continue for up to 12 weeks post treatment. Immediately following skin needling the skins uptake of active ingredients is significantly increased, thus allowing the penetration of nutrients directly where it is needed for optimal repair.
WHAT CAN COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY TREAT?
Collagen Induction Therapy is indicated for:
- Acne scarring
- Burn Scars
- Reduction of pore size
- Skin laxity
- Striae (stretch marks)
- Surgical scarring
- Trauma scarring
- Improve texture
- Strengthen skin
- Improve rosacea by increasing angiogenesis
BEFORE COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY
Preparing your skin prior to your collagen induction therapy decreases healing time and reduces the risks of adverse reactions. Additionally, incorporating cosmeceutical grade skincare and nutritional supplementation will prepare your skin's cells to regenerate more rapidly and increase the tensile strength of your skin for better results. Pre-care will vary between each individual and will be explained thoroughly at your consultation.
AFTER COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY
Immediately after the treatment the skin will exhibit moderate redness and feel flushed, this will subside over 2-72 hours and will depend on the condition being treated and the individual's healing abilities. In the days and weeks following CIT your skin will be more susceptible to burning in the sun and a broad spectrum SPF and sun avoidance must be strictly adhered to. Other lifestyle recommendations will be advised during your consultation appointment. It is advised not to undergo CIT for at least 3 days prior to a social event to allow redness to dissipate.
